Lucky Numbers: A Musical has now earned Three Awards from the judges of the 48 Hour Film Project San Diego! The awards are: Best Use of Genre (we had Musical, one of the tough ones!) Best Musical Score Best Writing Congrats to all who worked on the film, your tireless efforts really paid off! Who'd have believed that your 3 AM voices would sound so good? And please allow me to point out my co-writers on this project, Al Stoffel, Sue Ploeger and Michael Dawson... We said from the very start that we wanted this project to begin with a great story. I think two of our awards show that we did just that! Congrats! And special recognition has to go to my co-director, Al Stoffel, who crafted the melodies and outstanding sound of the film's music. These 12 films were picked as a representation of the high quality and varied styles of filmmaking that the San Diego teams in the project were able to achieve. It doesn't matter how many times you go through it, a premiere screening of your film is always a roller coaster ride of emotions. Apprehension, anxiety, anticipation, joy, wonder and all the memories of your experience making the film unleash themselves upon you all at once!What a thrill!And tonight, that thrill was enhanced by an amazingly positive response to our little movie! It was such a fun ride to take. The audience laughed in all the right places, and I think they really enjoyed the musical numbers.Congrats to all the cast. Your performances in this film were spot on. Every expression, every comedic bit, every note hit this audience with just the right emphasis. It was a lot of fun watching you, and it was even more fun for me to feel the audience responding to you. Way to go you guys and dolls!
